José Luís da Cruz Vilaça is a partner at Antas da Cunha Ecija who leads the EU Law and Competition practice. A former Judge and Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the EU, and the founding president of the
Mariana Tavares is counsel at Antas da Cunha Ecija, specialising in EU law, competition and regulation. She holds a PhD from King’s College London and has served as référendaire at the Court of Justice of
EU General Court, he led the negotiations for Portugal’s accession to the EEC. He holds a PhD from the Sorbonne and has taught extensively across Europe and the Americas. A prolific author with around 200 publications, he has chaired key national and international legislative initiatives and legal associations. Widely honoured for his contributions, he was named Senior Statesperson by Chambers in 2024.
