Thomas Westaway is a partner at Campbell Westaway and an experienced litigator and arbitration counsel. He has appeared as sole or junior counsel in all the senior courts of New Zealand, including the
disputes, private wealth, and public law, acting for corporates, high net worth individuals and trustees on complex claims. Shane has represented clients in significant commercial litigation including shareholder and director disputes, defective building claims, and urgent injunctive relief. He has extensive experience in trusts and estates disputes. Shane has sat on the New Zealand Law Society’s Civil Litigation and Tribunals Committee and contributes regularly to law reform. He has been ranked in Chambers Asia-Pacific and Chambers Global since 2021.
Supreme Court. Thomas has extensive experience in commercial litigation, encompassing contractual disputes, director and shareholder disputes, insolvency and urgent injunctive relief. He is an experienced public law litigator and has also defended complex regulatory matters for large commercial entities. In addition to his domestic practice, Thomas has represented clients in high- value international arbitration disputes across ICC, ICSID, SIAC, UNCITRAL and AMINZ proceedings, spanning over 20 jurisdictions.
