Conclusion The Bahrain International Commercial Court marks a significant milestone in Bahrain’s legal and economic development. By combining a modern procedural framework, an internationally focused judiciary, a unique appeals mechanism with the Singapore Inter- national Commercial Court, and comprehensive arbi- tration support, the BICC positions itself as a serious contender among leading global dispute resolution forums. Together with the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Reso- lution, it forms part of an integrated and sophisticated ecosystem that enhances Bahrain’s attractiveness as a centre for international commerce and investment. As the Court begins hearing its first cases, its devel- opment will be closely watched by the international legal community.
Once the Court verifies the filing, the claim is regis- tered and assigned a case number. The notice of claim is then served on the respondent, formally commenc- ing proceedings. The respondent is required to submit a Reply within 30 days, indicating whether it contests jurisdiction and outlining its defence. The case then moves to case management, where procedural directions are established and preliminary issues addressed. The matter is then referred to a Dis- pute Resolution Tribunal for determination. Through- out, the Court ensures proceedings are conducted efficiently, fairly and without unnecessary delay or expense.
