Loyens & Loeff has an environmental law group that is part of a fully integrated (tax and legal) firm with home markets in the Benelux countries and Swit- zerland, as well as offices in all the major financial centres, such as London, New York, Paris and To- kyo. The group has nine lawyers in the Netherlands alone and forms a crucial part of the firm’s leading real estate and energy and infrastructure practices. The team has vast experience in advising on all types of environmental law matters, including EU and oth-
er cross-border regulations pertaining to, inter alia, waste, chemicals, emission trade and environmental liabilities. Aside from transaction-related work, the team assists both (international) private and public sector clients on contentious and non-contentious matters ranging from (restructuring of) complex per- mit situations to compliance and enforcement-relat- ed procedures, reflecting its ability to provide knowl- edgeable and practical guidance in all environmental law matters.

Nanne Kusters is a senior associate at Loyens & Loeff and part of the firm’s real estate, energy and
regulatory enforcement teams. His practice focuses on advising and litigating on a broad range of environmental law, subsidy, and product regulatory matters for (multinational) companies and international investors. Nanne has broad experience with European environmental regulations and directives. He has completed a post-graduate specialisation course on environment and planning law (cum laude) and is a regular speaker on environmental law topics.

Jan de Heer is a counsel at Loyens & Loeff and part of the firm’s project development and energy teams. He advises and litigates on behalf of a broad range of clients, including real estate investors, developers and (multinational) industrial companies, with a specific focus on the energy transition. Jan completed post-graduate specialisation courses on environment and planning law (cum laude) and an energy law specialisation course. He regularly lectures at Leiden University, the Law Firm School and Instituut voor Bouwrecht.
