Sol Muntañola Abogados is a boutique intellectual property practice with a team of IP lawyers dedi- cated exclusively to this field and working closely with clients in a hands-on and collaborative manner. With more than 35 years of experience, the team combines strong technical know-how in in- tellectual property law – particularly copyright, trade marks, digital and technology-related matters – with related expertise in litigation, arbitration, licensing, contracting and enforcement strategies. The firm

provides full-service support covering initial advisory work and documentation, effective legal protection, negotiation and exploitation agreements, and robust litigation through a dedicated disputes team. In ad- dition, its professionals maintain a strong academic link, regularly participating in teaching activities in Spain and abroad. Recent work includes advising cli- ents from the media, technology and creative indus- tries on IP protection strategies, licensing structures, copyright enforcement actions and cross-border dis- pute resolution.

Ferran Llaquet Ballarín has been a lawyer at Sol Muntañola Abogados since 2002. He holds a law degree from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and a higher engi- neering degree in computer science

Since 1998 he has taught at the ESADE Law School (Ramón Llull University of Barcelona) first as a profes- sor of intellectual property and later as director of the IT+IP Master’s programme. His experience has led him to specialise in arbitration, and since 1999 he has been a member of the group of experts at the World Intellec- tual Property Organisation’s Mediation and Arbitration Centre and an arbitrator at ARBITEC (Spain).

Javier Márquez Martín is a partner at Sol Muntañola Abogados, and has worked in intellectual property since 1990. He began in a specialised police unit, studying organised crime networks and individual infringers. He

Ana Padial is a partner and director of the trade marks and patents depart- ment at Sol Muntañola Abogados, and is a certified Industrial Property Agent and former partner at leading IP firms. She has specialised since

later served as a substitute State Attorney in Barce- lona province. He joined the firm in 1996 and now leads the litigation department, successfully han- dling cases in copyright, trade marks, designs, patents, unfair competition, and image rights. He combines legal practice with teaching, having been a professor and collaborator at several universities and institutions. Since 2013, he has been Professor and Coordinator of Procedural Law in the IT+IP Master’s programme at ESADE.
