Lianjun Li is a senior partner at Reed Smith Richards Butler LLP in Hong Kong, leading the commercial and transportation litigation practice.
Patrick Chong is an associate in the litigation department of Reed Smith Richards Butler LLP (Hong Kong office), having joined the firm as a trainee in 2020 and qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2022.
Qualified in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and England and Wales, he is also a China-Appointed Attesting Officer. Lianjun specialises in international trade, commercial transactions, transportation, shipping, cross-border investments, litigation, and arbitration, representing prominent domestic and international clients. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators since 2002, he serves as a panel arbitrator for the Law Society of Hong Kong, HKIAC, CIETAC, CMAC, SCMA, and SIAC, among other leading arbitration institutions.
Patrick has experience in handling Hong Kong court litigation and international arbitration proceedings, as well as company liquidation matters. He has been involved in various contentious matters, such as the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, as well as applications for emergency injunctive relief.
Vanessa Fung is a legal assistant (pending admission) in the Hong Kong office. She joined the firm in 2023.
Matthew Townsend is an experienced legal counsel in investment and commercial arbitration at Reed Smith Richards Butler LLP. A partner in the Hong Kong office as a foreign lawyer
(England & Wales), Matthew has advised and acted in multiple investor–state disputes arising under international treaty and local investment laws. His clients come from the technology, corporate, finance, energy, infrastructure, and construction sectors. Matthew has conducted oral advocacy in hearings in both commercial and investor–state contexts.
