Atsushi Oishi is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, and works primarily in wealth management, taxation, M&A and disputes. He provides comprehensive advice on legal and tax matters relating to business succession, and represents clients by handling tax investigations and filing appeals against tax authorities. He also handles a wide variety of dispute matters and transactional matters, including cross-border M&A transactions and corporate reorganisations. His notable books and theses include “Legal and Tax Affairs concerning Family Governance for the Prevention and Settlement of Conflicts within the Family”, “Changes in Business Successions” and “Legal and Tax Affairs in Business Successions and M&A for Family Businesses”.
Makoto Sakai is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, and works primarily in the areas of wealth management, tax and M&A. In relation to wealth management, he has handled many cases involving
domestic and cross-border business succession planning, as well as inheritance planning and tax disputes. Making the most of his experience as a former Review Officer at the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau, he takes a pragmatic approach when examining matters from a tax perspective. Makoto has authored and co-authored many books, including “Legal and Tax Affairs in Business Successions and M&A for Family Businesses”.
