Mathias Bitschnau has been an associate at Ospelt & Partner Attorneys at Law in Schaan since spring 2026. He holds a law degree and doctorate, complemented by expertise in finance and compliance.
Liechtenstein. Before relocating from Austria to Liechtenstein in 2021, he worked with renowned business law firms in Vienna, Tyrol and Salzburg, and he continues to advise on matters with an Austrian nexus. He regularly publishes scholarly articles in national and international journals and lectures at various universities. He completed his academic education in Tyrol (Austria) and Copenhagen (Denmark), with a focus on both legal and economic studies.
His career includes roles as COO of a Vaduz trust office (2012–2019), managing director of a public bonded warehouse (2019–2021), and CEO of a mid-sized trust company (2022–2025). He has also served on supervisory boards of an Austrian bank and an energy producer (2015–2020). His practice focuses on compliance, risk management, sanctions law, FATCA/AIA and legal counsel for financial and fiduciary clients.
