Joel Wagman is a counsel in Herrick’s corporate department and a member of its sports law group. Joel counsels a broad range of sports clients on a spectrum of transactions, including partnering and strategic alliances, share purchase agreements, M&A and private equity transactions. He has substantial experience in financing and capital raising transactions, including private placements, initial public offerings, sales of equity interests, and equity and debt restructuring. He has counselled sports investors in franchise acquisition and ownership matters, private investors in establishing sports clinics and professional sports leagues in establishing core investment structures, as well as in merchandise licensing, distribution, media and promotional matters.
Barry Werbin is a counsel in Herrick’s intellectual property and technology group and a member of the firm’s sports law group. Barry counsels clients in the sports industry on IP-related litigation and transactional
matters, including trade mark protection and registration, copyright and trademark infringement, rights of publicity counselling, content management and licensing, e-commerce-related issues, sponsorship and marketing agreements, and IP due diligence for M&A, asset purchase and joint venture deals. He was the prior chair of the NYS Bar Association’s Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section and is on its executive committee. Barry is also a trustee of the Copyright Society of the USA.
