With its 146-year history, Julius & Creasy is the oldest law firm in Sri Lanka. The firm offers an extensive range of full legal services in several fields, including intellectual property law. Its intellectual property division consists of 13 professionals, includ - ing senior partner Anomi Wanigasekera, six senior associates and six junior associates. The firm advises on diverse areas of intellectual property law, including patents, trade marks, copyright, industrial designs and domain names, and in fields such as biotechnol - ogy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, computers, soft -

ware, media, entertainment, etc. Its clients represent numerous multinational companies, which include a majority of Fortune 500 companies and leading trade mark agents worldwide. The firm’s intellectual prop - erty division also undertakes a full range of enforce - ment, management and transactional matters, man - aging and co-ordinating clients’ intellectual property portfolios in Sri Lanka. It has won multiple awards from esteemed institutions, such as Chambers and Partners Asia-Pacific Intellectual Property Band 1: 2008–2024.

Anomi Wanigasekera is an attorney- at-law called to the Bar, and joined Julius & Creasy in 1984. She is the senior partner of the firm and also head of the intellectual property division. She holds a master’s degree

Sabeera Shariff is an attorney-at-law and is a senior associate of Julius & Creasy. She was called to the Bar in 2014 and joined the firm in 2016. Sabeera holds a master’s degree (LLM) from the University of Colombo

from the University of Wales as well as diplomas in intellectual property law. She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and chairs the INTA Anticounterfeiting South Asia Subcommittee for the term 2024–2025. She is also a member, councillor and the vice-president of the Sri Lanka Group of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA). She has contributed to many local and international journals. She has extensive experience of over 41 years in all aspects of intellectual property law.

and was awarded the best student in the Intellectual Property certificate course, based on merit. Sabeera is currently reading for an MPhil at the University of Colombo, in Intellectual Property Law. Sabeera has contributed to several international journals and guides. She is a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and serves as the country representative on APAA’s copyright committee. Sabeera is widely experienced in enforcement and prosecution of intellectual property law.

Charuni Hewage is an attorney-at- law and a senior associate of Julius and Creasy. She was called to the Bar in 2015 and joined the firm in 2016. She has a bachelor’s degree (LLB (Honours)) from the University of

London. She is a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.
