Suzy Madar leads Mallesons’ health and life sciences sector. With a background in biochemistry and genetics, she is a uniquely qualified specialist. Suzy is an accomplished patent litigation expert in highly

technical fields of medical science, as well as an expert in the regulation of therapeutic goods, including acting in disputes with the Therapeutic Goods Administration. She has unparalleled experience across the sector in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and the application of existing regulations to new models of delivering health services. Suzy is a member of the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Subcommittee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association.

Scott Bouvier is widely recognised as one of Australia’s most prominent IP and technology lawyers. He has a highly regarded commercialisation

Matthew Swinn is highly recognised in the field in patent litigation, particularly in the life sciences sector. He also advises on therapeutic goods regulation, marketing and disputes. He serves as practice leader for

practice in life sciences, with particular focus on protecting investment in early- and late-stage research. He is a member of the Business Council of Australia’s Research Commercialisation Policy Working Group. He is the only lawyer mentor in the current Australian chapter of Creative Destruction Lab, a global objectives-based programme for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies.

Mallesons’ Australia and Singapore dispute resolution teams, and is also a member of the national executive. Matthew is also active in law reform and harmonisation, including as former Chair of the Law Council of Australia’s IP Committee, liaison for the Federal Court of Australia’s IP Users’ Group and as Second Vice-President of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
