Stefan Altenschmidt is a partner in Luther’s Dusseldorf office and co-head of the firm’s environment, planning and regulatory (EPR) team. From 2003 to 2011, Stefan worked for Freshfields in Dusseldorf and London,
Ina Schwanke is an associate in Luther’s environment, planning and regulatory (EPR) team, based in Dusseldorf. She joined the firm in 2025 after completing her state examinations with a focus on Public
and joined Luther in 2011. He advises companies and trade associations on mining law (onhore and offshore activities), environmental law, climate protection and emissions trading law, as well as planning law. He also represents his clients at national administrative and constitutional courts and at the European Court of Justice. He is regarded by various legal directories as one of Germany’s leading lawyers in the area of public law.
Law and a Master of Laws (LLM) in European Economic Law. Ina advises industrial companies and trade associations on issues of public commercial law, with a particular focus on mining and environmental law. She is developing her expertise in mining law permitting and regulation, supporting clients in approval procedures, environmental impact assessments and related matters. Her practice also covers planning law, climate protection law and administrative law.
Pauline Müller is a senior associate in Luther’s environment, planning and regulatory (EPR) team and is based in Dusseldorf. She advises companies
and trade associations on mining, environmental and planning law, covering both traditional German raw materials (such as limestone and clay) and emerging resources (such as lithium). She supports clients throughout the entire project cycle – from feasibility assessments and permitting to stakeholder management and defending against (competitor) claims. Pauline also provides in-house training on mining law for operational teams and legal departments. Through her advisory work, Pauline is well acquainted with the practice of the competent mining authorities.
