Montanios & Montanios is one of the oldest law firms in Cyprus, with an international practice. leading shipping and admiralty law firms, practising all matters and cases relating to merchant shipping, maritime transport and ship finance in both wet and dry cases at the Admiralty Court. The legal team has grown to include 22 people, covering all aspects of corporate work and commercial transactions. The firm prides itself on focusing on a defined set of prac - tice areas and providing consistently high-calibre service.

Adam Montanios joined Montanios & Montanios LLC in 1979 before becoming a partner in 1986, and is now the firm’s managing partner. He specialises in all aspects of maritime law, finance, and corporate and

He has represented and advised ship-owners, ship managers, ship charterers, lessors and lessees, local and international banks, and financial institutions on a range of non-contentious matters. He also acts for local and international corporate clients in connection with joint ventures, M&A, company restructurings and multiparty business transactions. He graduated from the Greek Gymnasium of Famagusta, and was awarded an LLB Honours degree from Hull University. He is President of the Maritime Law Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association and the legal adviser to the Cyprus Union of Shipowners.

joined Montanios & Montanios LLC in 2013 as a trainee advocate, and was admitted to the Cyprus Bar in 2014. In 2025, he became a partner in the firm. His main areas of practice are shipping, finance, and corporate and commercial work. Nicolas acts for international and local banks in ship finance transactions, and for ship-owners, charterers and ship managers in non-contentious aspects of shipping (including ship and yacht sale, purchase and registration matters). He has also been involved in a range of commercial matters including M&A, corporate restructurings and corporate finance transactions.
