Ann Fenech is a partner and heads the marine litigation department at Fenech & Fenech Advocates. She has practised maritime law exclusively since 1986, and was managing partner between 2008 and 2020. Ann
Lara Saguna Axiaq is a director of Fenech & Fenech Marine Services Ltd and heads the ship registration department. She is also a member of the Malta Chamber of Advocates and the Malta Maritime Law Association.
was elected President of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) in 2022. She was the President of the Malta Maritime Law Association from 2008 to 2022, and is a founding member of the Malta Maritime Forum and a council member of the European Maritime Law Organisation. She was also the CMI co-ordinator at the UNCITRAL Working Group V1. In December 2023, she was listed in Lloyd’s List’s One Hundred People, comprising the shipping industry’s most influential people, for the second consecutive year.
Lara has practised in the areas of ship finance, ship registration, and ship sale and purchase since 2007, focusing on registration of vessels, ship sales/ acquisitions, transfers of ownership and all matters relating to registration under the Maltese flag. She has also advised and assisted ship-owners and leading financial institutions with ship finance matters.
Martina Farrugia is a senior associate in Fenech & Fenech Advocates’ marine litigation department. Martina was admitted to the Bar in 2016. Her areas of focus include debt recovery and the arrests of vessels, the sale
