Shareholder Activism in the Tech Sector The tech sector has emerged as a prime target for activist campaigners, who are increasingly pressing for changes at both the board and executive levels to bring in tech expertise and hold leadership account- able for company performance. Activists are also urg- ing tech firms to pursue strategic alternatives, includ- ing mergers, divestitures or break-ups, to unlock greater shareholder value. Notably, selective antitrust enforcement and government intervention in the tech sector have added complexity in general to corporate strategy and deal making.
