The first phase of the project has a mine life of 28 years with declared mine - able reserves of 81 million metric tons equivalent to around 450,400 metric tons of recoverable copper and 2.8 million ounces of gold. The Tampakan project, located in South Cota - bato in southern Philippines, is scheduled to
begin commercial mining operations in 2026. It is recognised as one of the largest untapped copper and gold reserves in the world. The pro - ject is being developed by Sagittarius Mines, Inc (SMI) under a Financial and Technical Assistance Agreement (FTAA). The project has the potential to produce an average of 375,000 metric tons of copper and 360,000 ounces of gold in concen - trate annually throughout its 17-year mine life.
