The IP practice in War - saw is focused mainly on IP litigation, with spe - cial attention paid to patent litigation. However, the firm has also built a stable transactional and advisory, non-contentious IP practice. It ad - vises on some of the most technically complex and commercially important litigation cases, as well as market-shaping transactions. In patent litigation, A&O Shearman handles most of the major disputes in Poland. Marcin Ziarkowski is an advocate and senior associate in the IP and commercial litigation department at A&O Shearman. He frequently advises on IP/IT aspects of M&A transactions involving the IT, e-commerce and new technologies sectors. He has been involved in various commercial cases, as well as in numerous patent invalidation proceedings. Marcin has been representing clients in many proceedings for the invalidation of industrial property rights before the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. Marcin joined A&O Shearman in 2016 and has climbed the corporate ladder to the level of senior associate. In 2017, he graduated from the Intellectual Property Postgraduate Studies at the University of Warsaw.

Krystyna Szczepanowska- Kozłowska is a partner at A&O Shearman, heading the firm’s IP and commercial litigation department. She is an attorney- at-law with over 20 years of experience, and provides clients with cutting- edge advice on a wide range of IP issues relating to patents, trade marks and copyrights, both contentious and non- contentious. Krystyna advises on a wide range of complex cases, working with both national and international clients on high-profile and strategic matters. She represents major international companies in their high-profile and exceptionally complex patent and trade mark disputes, which require a significant amount of technical expertise. Additionally, she is a professor and author of publications.
