9.2 Likely Changes to the Applicable Legislation of the Enforcement Body The SFO has recently had some modifications made to its investigatory powers but, aside from those relatively minor issues, there do not appear to be any imminent likely changes to the legisla - tion that underpins it (similarly so with the CPS). The SFO is constantly the subject of scrutiny about its effectiveness and speculation about its existence. This is no doubt due in part to the nature of the cases it investigates, the press and political pressure if those cases fail, and the cad - res of well-resourced white-collar defence law - yers whose job it is to put the organisation under the microscope. It remains to be seen whether such speculation about the SFO’s future trans - lates into changes in its structure, powers or policies.
