Hergüner Bilgen Üçer Attorney Partnership is composed of approximately 140 individuals with a variety of educational and professional backgrounds. The 90-member legal team, 17 of whom are Hergüner partners, is involved in cases that require a full grasp of Turkish and cross-border jurisdictions as well as different cultures and languages. The firm’s real estate team advises the world’s leading international retailers, real estate funds and developers in Türkiye’s most famous shopping and residen - tial complexes, urban regeneration projects and

tourism facilities. In addition to pure real estate transactions, the team also provides permitting and licensing-related advice, and cross-dis - ciplinary input in infrastructure projects along with the firm’s infrastructure and project finance team, as every infrastructure project has a real estate leg including both privately owned and government-owned/controlled land. The real estate team also specialises in sophisticated real estate litigation and arbitration, and repre - sents local and international developers and in - vestors before the courts and arbitral tribunals. Nazım O Kurt is a partner in Hergüner Bilgen Üçer’s litigation and real estate departments. He is well known and recognised in the Turkish real estate industry through his significant involvement in real estate-based organisations, such as the Association of Real Estate and Real Estate Investment Companies (GYODER), Real Estate Türkiye (GMTR), and the Centre for Strategic Thinking in Real Estate (GİSP). He represents local commercial developers and international investors both in deal structuring and in court, and has extensive experience in commercial real estate litigation, negotiations, international dispute resolution, project development, permitting and licensing.

Authors

Serkan Gül is a partner at Hergüner Bilgen Üçer and head of the firm’s real estate practice group. He is a member of the Association of Real Estate and Real Estate Investment Companies (GYODER), the Centre for Strategic Thinking in Real Estate (GİSP) and the International Law Institute. He advises clients on every aspect of real estate transactions, including asset and share deals, from a project’s inception to completion. He has extensive experience in real estate investment funds and trusts, sale and leaseback transactions, construction, and zoning and permitting in deals that include residential properties, offices, shopping centres, hotels and port facilities. He has written extensively on the subject of real estate.

Türkay Avanaş is a senior associate with Hergüner Bilgen Üçer’s transactional practice group, working primarily with the real estate team. He assists the team with zoning, construction,

licensing and permits, and agreements such as rent, sales, promise to sell and construction.
