Louise Verstraete is a financial regulatory lawyer working in the sectors of financial services and institutions, funds and assets, insurance and insurtech, digital finance and payment services.

The finreg team advises banks, insurance companies, payment institutions, e-money institutions, asset managers, financial intermediaries, fintechs and regtechs on all legal and regulatory aspects of their activities. Team members are in contact with the regulatory authorities (FSMA and NBB) on a daily basis. The finreg team is specifically focusing on ESG and SFDR implementation for financial institutions, digitalisation projects, outsourcing projects, crypto payments and fund regulation (UCITS and AIFMD). The team also has specific expertise in matters of regulatory enforcement.
Louise has advised large Belgian and international financial entities, as well as more niche start-ups and local entities. She regularly assists the latter institutions with legal questions relating to their day-to-day business and analyses regulatory requirements in the context of complex M&A transactions and restructurings. Louise has a special interest in ESG.
