The offic - es in Baghdad and Erbil are each staffed with teams of seven locally admitted lawyers. The firm has advised major international companies and organisations on their entry strategy to Iraq, and continues to provide legal and strategic ad - vice on major investments including infrastruc - ture projects, project financing, direct invest - ments, real estate, M&A, general commercial transactions and day-to-day legal matters. Sarmad Akrawi is the managing partner in the Erbil office of AMERELLER. He has long- standing experience advising international investors in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Mainland Iraq. He is an expert in corporate and land law and regularly interfaces with the public authorities. He is also an experienced litigator and regularly acts in important litigation and arbitration cases in Kurdistan. He is admitted to the Kurdistan Bar.

Ahmed Al-Janabi is the managing partner in the
Baghdad office of AMERELLER and head of the Iraq practice. He has been consistently recognised for his expertise in oil and gas. Over the past 15 years, he has advised numerous international clients on high- profile matters in Iraq. He advises primarily on corporate and commercial law, labour law, dispute resolution, M&A and project finance. Ahmed joined the firm in 2007 and became a partner in 2012. He was admitted to the Iraqi Bar in 2007. He is also a member of the Iraqi Jurists Association and the Iraqi Translators Association.
