Authors
Priscila Kashiwabara is a partner and head of the life sciences division at Kasznar Leonardos. She brings over 15 years’ experience in intellectual property. With a Biotechnology Master’s from USP (2003), she focuses on patent prosecution, advising clients in agriculture, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Registered as an Industrial Property Agent in Brazil, she is active in ABPI and OAB/SP’s IP Committee. Priscila also guides clients on Brazilian genetic resources and handles registrations with the Ministry of the Environment. She is skilled in filing plant variety applications with the Ministry of Agriculture. Her academic contributions include technical papers on biodiversity and biotechnology.
Viviane Trojan is a partner at Kasznar Leonardos who boasts over a decade’s experience specialising in patent litigation. She focuses on strategic counselling and litigation for
national and international innovative companies, particularly in life sciences disputes. Viviane advises on plant varieties and standard-essential patents in ICT. She is a co-ordinator at ABPI’s Patent Study Committee and actively engaged in IP associations, lecturing on patent litigation. With an LLB from UFF, postgraduate studies at PUC-Rio and an LLM from UC Berkeley, she is a specialist in law and technology. Viviane joined Kasznar Leonardos in 2021, overseeing the strategic patent disputes department, based in São Paulo.
