7.10 Crisis Cartels Inflation can put margin pressure on sellers, thus increasing incentives to collude. Given the infla - tionary environment of the last few years and lingering supply chain issues, market conditions are relatively conductive to cartel behaviour. In dealing with this, the Antitrust Division has been proactive about investigating those who attempt to exploit supply chain disruptions to engage in collusive conduct. Recently, several US gov - ernment agencies have also launched inquiries into industries with key roles in the supply chain or prone to inflation, including most recently a civil investigation into major egg producers to address concerns about market manipulation of egg prices in the United States.
