Mori Hamada & Matsumoto has a real estate practice that extends from traditional acquisi - tion and leasing transactions to complex fund structures involving a special purpose vehicle or a trust, or even investment structures for over - seas properties. The team’s work in this prac - tice primarily involves private fund formations

for domestic and overseas properties, J-REITs, real estate acquisitions, developments and dis - positions and real estate financings. Recent highlights include advising KKR on its acquisi - tion of hotel properties and the hotel operator of Unizo Hotel and advising Japanese banks on a USD911 million financing for 425 Park Avenue.

Satoru Hasumoto is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto who deals with all aspects of real estate, including the development and operation of hotels, data centres and logistics facilities. He focuses on inbound and outbound real estate and construction projects. His publications include “Real Estate Investments in Australia” (ARES Journal, October 2024), “An Introduction to Real Estate Financing in the US” (ARES Journal, October 2020) and “Outline of Real Estate Investment Regarding Data Centres” (ARES Journal, December 2019).

Takahiro Sato is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, who has recently been involved in the development of logistics facilities, office restacking projects and the formation of an

open-end core real estate fund. He has also recently handled the formation of private REITs, listed REIT mergers, going-private transactions for listed REITs and S-REIT listings. His publications include “Characteris - tics and Practical Considerations of Sponsor Changes for REITs” (ARES Journal, February 2025) and “Amendment to the Civil Code and Real Property Registration Act (Regarding Land of Unknown Ownership)” (ARES Journal, August and October 2021).
