Chang after leaving his position as a judge at the Seoul Central District Court in 2007. Since then, drawing on his engineering background, he has served as an advisor and legal counsel on wide range of technology-related legal matters for domestic and international companies. He has achieved successful outcomes in IP disputes involving patents, trade marks, copyrights, trade secrets, as well as product liability disputes in relation to electricity, electronics, machinery, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

Kim & Chang in 2016, Joe has advised on some of Korea’s most complex and long- running matters, including a multi-year product liability case involving criminal, civil, government and stakeholder dimensions. Joe has significant experience managing internal investigations, including those involving e-discovery, co-ordinating sensitive, large- scale fact-finding efforts across multiple issues and departments. He also provides ongoing regulatory counsel to global clients doing business in Korea, particularly with respect to product safety, certification requirements and product recalls.
