Wikborg Rein Advokatfirma AS has an environmen - tal law team based in Oslo, forming a core part of the firm’s wider 14-lawyer ESG and compliance practice, and recognised for market-leading expertise in sus- tainability, climate and environmental regulation. The team includes one of Norway’s foremost experts in environmental and climate law (and former professor of law) as well as a former Head of Section in the Min- istry of Climate and Environment with hands-on ex- perience from industrial sustainability management.

Wikborg Rein takes a holistic approach that integrates environmental law with broader ESG obligations, enabling clients to navigate complex requirements on climate risk, environmental impact assessment, permitting and implementation of EU sustainability legislation. Recent work includes advising the Sámi Parliament in its lawsuit against the Ministry of En- ergy concerning the electrification of the Hammerfest LNG facility, involving core questions of Indigenous consultation and environmental assessment. control, circular economy, waste and nature protection. She also has hands-on sustainability experience from an international industrial group, where she led ESG initiatives and contributed to the Brevik carbon capture project (Langskip). At Wikborg Rein, Tonje is a key member of the ESG and environmental law team, advising on complex regulatory compliance, permitting and sustainability strategy across all environmental and climate domains.

Elise Johansen is a partner of Wikborg Rein and widely regarded as a leading Norwegian specialist in sustainability, climate and

environmental law, with over 20 years’ experience as a researcher, adviser and practitioner. Formerly a law professor at UiT, she has published extensively and is a sought-after lecturer known for linking legal analysis with practical strategy. She leads a dedicated ESG and environmental law team, combining expertise in pollution control, impact assessment and nature management with advanced knowledge of climate regulation, EU sustainability rules and corporate ESG compliance. The practice advises listed companies, authorities and international clients on climate risk, due diligence and sustainable resource governance. Tonje Hagen Geiran is a leading Norwegian climate and environmental law specialist with experience from both government and industry. She spent many years in the Ministry of Climate and Environment in senior advisory and leadership roles, developing legislation and policy across climate regulation, pollution

Lene Marita Berg Hermann is an associate in Wikborg Rein’s ESG and environmental law team, advising on environmental regulatory matters and sustainability compliance. She brings academic rigour to her practice,

having previously served as a research assistant at the Centre for European Law at the University of Oslo. Her master’s thesis examined access to justice in environmental matters under the EU EIA Directive and the Aarhus Convention, providing her with particular insight into procedural rights and environmental impact assessment. Lene assists clients with regulatory compliance and ESG due diligence.
