Dr Kamal Hossain and Associates was established in 1980 and is one of the largest law firms in Bang - ladesh specialising in commercial law. It provides a comprehensive range of legal services for both lo - cal and international clients. Arbitration is one of its key practice areas and it has been involved in both domestic and international arbitration. Its members have acted as arbitrator, counsel and legal expert in ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, PCA, SIAC and ad hoc ar - bitrations. In addition to participating in arbitrations,
its members advise on a wide range of arbitration is - sues, including arbitration clauses and submission agreements, choice of forum and rules of arbitra - tion, enforceability of awards and the role of national courts during arbitration proceedings. It has been involved in litigation for enforcing arbitration awards, staying court proceedings initiated in violation of ar - bitration clauses and obtaining interim relief in sup - port of pending arbitration proceedings. He has acted as counsel and legal expert in arbitrations under the ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, SIAC, GAFTA and DIA rules and under the domestic arbitration laws of Bangladesh, Korea and the UK, and also appeared in major arbitration cases before the Bangladesh Supreme Court.

Sharif Bhuiyan is a senior advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and a partner and deputy head at Dr Kamal Hossain and Associates. He is a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and was co-rapporteur of
the trade law committee of the International Law Association (2009–14) and a visiting fellow at the University of Cambridge (2006). He is the author of National Law in WTO Law (Cambridge University
