Violeta Saranciuc is a partner in Zamfirescu Racoți Vasile & Partner’s arbitration practice group. Violeta has participated as pleading and lead counsel in important international arbitrations involving Romanian

His practice focuses on the resolution of high-exposure construction disputes, but also on commercial contract disputes related to energy and privatisation. He was recently appointed to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators and is a member of CIETAC and CICA arbitrator panels, and several arbitration institutions, including the SCC Arbitrators’ Council, the IBA Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Committees and The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London.

She is ambassador of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) in Romania and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. Violeta also sits on the executive committee of the Rising Arbitrators Initiative (RAI). International arbitration is well established in Roma - nia and has experienced steady growth since 2014, with a more or less constant rise in the number of arbitration cases per year. Its increasing use predom - inantly results from disputes related to the various infrastructure projects started by the public authori - ties in Romania with the help of European financing (from pre-adhesion and post-adhesion funds and, most recently, from the funds associated with the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Romania). Alina Tugearu is a partner and co-ordinator of the IP litigation practice at Zamfirescu Racoți Vasile & Partners, specialising in civil and commercial litigation with a focus on international arbitration and administrative and

contentious disputes. She has a wide range of experience in presenting arbitration cases before national and international arbitral panels in proceedings conducted under the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, the Vienna International Arbitral Centre and the Court of International Commercial Arbitration (Bucharest), as well as UNCITRAL arbitration rules under ad hoc arbitration. Her experience also includes complex projects involving construction disputes, such as disputes concerning FIDIC contracts, post- privatisation disputes and energy disputes.
