14.2 Growth Areas Commercial litigation in Belize is expanding, driven by cross-border investment, real estate development and a more complex business environment. The fastest- growing areas include: • property and real estate disputes arising from rapid development in high-value areas like Ambergris Caye, especially over ownership, unregistered interests and development contracts; • financial services and banking disputes involving investments, securities and debt recovery; and • commercial contract and shareholder disputes, reflecting increased business activity and joint ven- ture arrangements.
