8.8 Environmental, Health and Safety Laws Environmental, health and safety laws, which may apply to projects, are not governed by a uniform set of rules or supervised by one specific authority. Rather, given the federal structure of the Republic of Austria and its membership in the EU, the relevant provisions may be found in federal and provincial laws, regula- tions, technical directives or EU legislation. The competence for the enforcement of the relevant provision lies with numerous authorities at federal or provincial level (including municipalities).
