Lektou is a Macau SAR-based law firm with more than 40 years’ experience of legal practice in Ma- cau. Services regularly provided by the firm include issuing legal opinions and advising on Macau law, helping international companies to start their busi- nesses in Macau and assisting in the reorganisation of economic groups with connections to Macau. In 2016, Lektou partnered with Zhong Yin Law Firm, in the People’s Republic of China, and Fongs, in Hong Kong, to open a new office on Hengqin Island, Zhu- hai, PRC: ZLF Law Firm. This is the first law office that
unites firms from the two Special Administrative Re- gions and Mainland China. The firm has also two of- fices in Portugal, one in Lisbon and the other in Porto, and has joined the global network of the Miranda Al- liance, which has offices in all Portuguese-speaking jurisdictions, gathering approximately 230 lawyers in 18 jurisdictions, based across four continents. He holds an LLM from the University of Chicago Law School and a law degree from the Catholic University of Portugal, Lisbon, and is admitted to practice in Macau SAR, New York State, and the Greater Bay Area (PRC).
Pedro Cortés is managing partner of Lektou, where he began his career as a lawyer in 2003, with experience in gaming, corporate and M&A, capital markets, and banking and finance. He is admitted to practice in Macau,
Portugal, Brazil (São Paulo), China (as a cross- border Macau lawyer) and East Timor. He is a member of the International Association of Gaming Advisors (IAGA), the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (HKIA). Pedro is guest lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University – Lisbon School of Law, and of the Autónoma Academy in Lisbon.
