Oliver Völkel is a partner at the Austrian headquarters of international law firm CERHA HEMPEL who specialises in EU financial regulation and crypto-asset law. His clients include CASPs under the MiCA
regime, well-known layer-1 protocols, DeFi applications, operators of mining and validator pools, as well as traditional financial institutions. Alongside his legal practice, he is actively involved in academic teaching, research, and publications in the field of digital assets, stablecoins, and EU monetary and financial law. He is editor and author of the specialist works (Blockchain rules (MANZ), Crypto-Assets (BECK)) and is regarded as a pioneer in this area of law.
