João Diogo Barbosa is an associate lawyer and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2021, working mainly in financial law, with particular focus on financing and M&A transactions, securities transactions, the banking sector and fintech. He is particularly experienced in supervisory and regulatory matters, advising on capital markets and entities that provide services with virtual assets, payment service providers, payment institutions and issuers of electronic money, crowdfunding platforms, financial companies and banking institutions. António Kreiseler de Albuquerque is a trainee lawyer and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2024. During his traineeship he will be working in different areas of law. He is currently concluding an LLM in Public International Law at London School of Economics.

Rodrigo Formigal is co-head of the banking and finance practice at Abreu Abogados. His experience includes advising borrowers and lenders on all aspects of financing operations

and on diverse areas of securities law, including financial intermediation and bond issues. He has extensive experience in restructuring and trading distressed debt, real estate finance, and non-performing loan transactions. He has worked on structured finance deals, including securities issues like covered bonds, commercial paper programmes, high-yield bonds, and asset- backed transactions. He also offers ongoing support to collective investment undertakings. Rodrigo advises several institutions on regulatory compliance, including reporting legally required information to authorities. His expertise covers cross-border financial operations, compliance, and anti-money laundering issues.
