9. Additional Maritime or Shipping Issues 9.1 Other Jurisdiction-Specific Shipping and Maritime Issues The Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships, Sales and Mortgages) Law will be amended to incorporate provisions related to (among other things): • the acceptance of registration of an amend - ment to an already registered ship mortgage; • the ability to register ships under construction in the Register at any stage of their construc - tion; and • an expanded eligibility criteria for corpora - tions that can be registered as owners of vessels flying the Cyprus flag. The amendments to the Law are expected to be enacted by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
