Authors

István Varga is the Chair Professor of the Department of Civil Procedure at ELTE Faculty of Law in Budapest and the managing partner of PROVARIS, heading its litigation and arbitration practice group. He was the author and editor of the new Hungarian Civil Procedure Code’s Expert Proposal and author of the new (2018) Rules of Proceedings of the Arbitration Court Attached to the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has also been director of studies at The Hague Academy of International Law (2011–2012), an advisor to the second president of the Constitutional Court of Hungary (1998–2003), an arbitrator for numerous Hungarian and international arbitration courts, and counsel in international arbitrations and in high profile international litigations.

Viktor Előd Cserép is an associate at PROVARIS specialising in international and domestic arbitration and litigation. He has experience both as an assistant to arbitral

tribunals and as counsel in international arbitrations in several industry sectors including construction, manufacturing, and sales of goods, as well as providing ongoing legal support to large-scale international projects, primarily for enterprises from German-speaking countries. He is a member of several international arbitration organisations, the past first CEE Chair of Young ITA (Institute for Transnational Arbitration, 2021-2023), the drafter of the official English and German translations of the new (2018) Rules of Proceedings of the Arbitration Court Attached to the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and an external lecturer at ELTE Faculty of Law in Budapest.
