Kensaku Yamamoto is the managing partner of SHUSAKU· YAMAMOTO, and has led its international expansion in Asia since joining the firm in 2011. Under his leadership,
Laarni Vinas (Lani) is the legal director of SHUSAKU· YAMAMOTO and is a triple- qualified lawyer in the Philippines, New York State, USA, and England and Wales.
SHUSAKU·YAMAMOTO has been recognised by Chambers and Partners as well as other major ranking organisations. Kensaku studied pharmaceutical sciences at Kyoto University before doing his master’s in law at the University of Southern California, and his practice areas include pharmaceutical law, IP prosecution and enforcement, regulatory issues and commercial law, including M&A. He is registered to practise before the Supreme Court of Japan. He has also published extensively in leading IP law journals and has participated in numerous international law conferences.
Lani manages a team of more than 100 legal professionals, associates and technology specialists who handle the IP portfolios and digital assets of blue-chip Fortune 500 corporations, universities, governments and venture capital firms. She serves as a representative director of Women in Law Japan and is also an adjunct professor at Hitotsubashi University and a senior lecturer at the University of the Philippines. She has spoken at numerous conferences and events, including in Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cambodia, Australia, the UK, USA and Canada.
