EY Tax & Law founded its IP practice in April 2019 with the arrival of Daniele Caneva and Ele - na Carpani, together with a team of 11 profes - sionals, from CREA Avvocati Associati. In July 2021, Giovanni F Casucci, previously a partner at Dentons Europe, where he was the head of the European patent litigation department, and his four-people team joined the practice. Today, the department boasts a team of 18 and has a strong reputation in the Italian IP market for
the added value services that it can provide to clients through the integrated work with other EY legal, tax and technology departments. Gio - vanni and his team have a wealth of experience in IP litigation matters, dealing with important cross-border cases. They have also been pio - neers in applying the pre-trial evidence collec - tion orders via Regulation (EC) No 1206/01 (cur - rently replaced by Regulation (EU) 2020/1783) in cross-border patent litigation cases.

Matteo Casucci is a senior associate in the IP litigation practice at EY TAX & LAW, Milan, Italy. He has been practising as an advocate in the Venice and, currently, Milan Bar
firms, advising entities from both the private and public sector. He has been involved in a number of European landmark cases, such as Occlutech, Flos, Diesel, Chapter 4 Supreme. In addition to being a lawyer, he is a specialist IP lecturer and co-director of several courses at the Politecnico di Milano, including the highly reputed UPC European Patent Litigation course.
Associations for 12 years. Matteo is a lawyer with decades-long advisory experience in the fields of intellectual property law, having gained experience at Italian IP boutiques, renowned European IP law firms and large international law networks. He assists small and medium- sized companies as well as multinational corporations on patents, know-how, designs, trade marks, copyrights and IP-related unfair competition, with a specific focus on food, home furniture, fashion, software and engineering industries.
